SiSiB® PC5620 may used as silylating agent for dervatization of primary and secondary alcohols etc.
The hydrolytic stability of the trimethylsilyl-protected alcohols lies between that of methyldiisopropylsilyl- and trimethylsilyl-protected alcohols in acid and base. The selective oxidation of the triethylsilyl-protected alcohols in the presence of tert-butyldimethylsilyl-protected alcohol has been shown. The deprotection of silyl ethers has been reviewed as has the oxidation of silyl ethers.
SiSiB® PC5620 may be used to protect allylic esters as silylketene acetal. It is ore stable but less volatile derivates than trimethylchlorosilane.
